Ashwagandha- The Indian Ginseng


Ashwagandha - also known as the Indian winter, the Cherry Botanical name Withania Somnifera-It is a shrub belonging to Solanace family. It is grown in Western India, Gujarat, MP, Punjab and Himalayas.

Ashwagandha got its name because their roots are, the smell of horse. (Ashwa = horse, gandha = smell). It is run by a different name Varaha karni because their leaves resemble pig hat's ear.

Ashwagandha light (laghu) and sticky (snigdha) properties, and saen bitter taste. On the digestion and sae taste dominates. The grate part of this root is used herb.

Medicinal properties of various Ashwagandha

The medical properties of ashwagandha is due to compounds known as withanolides, which is considered it.

Ashwagandha adaptogen (as it improves endurance), rejuvenating tonic and sedative. Therefore, many herbalists such as Indian herb ginseng.
